  • JOB TITLE: Senior Data Engineer

    SALARY: £70,929-£86,691

    LOCATION(S): Leeds

    HOURS: Full-time - 35 hours per week

    WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least

    two days per week, or 40% of our time, at one of our office sites.

    ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY

    We’re looking for a strategic and technically minded Data Engineer to join our Homes Platform AI Team.

    The Data Engineer will collaborate with the Data Operations, Software Engineers, Data Scientists, and Business SMEs to design, develop, integrate and test Data Product features on the product roadmaps to meet customer needs.

    WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

    Day to day, you will:

  • Implement robust, secure, reliable, efficient, and well-documented Data Products, and participate in design/implementation reviews to learn best practices and improve quality.

  • Lead team meetings and input into initiative discussions.

  • Work closely with stakeholders to understand requirements and specifications, collaborate with team to identify and fix defects.

  • Contribute to the maintenance and support of existing Data Products. Troubleshoot and debug issues as they arise. Help ensure the smooth operation of deployed solutions.

  • Promote active data product custodianship by participating in incident root-cause analysis to identify and act on learnings.

  • Enable the security, maintenance and resilience of Data Services and Products

  • Invest to develop your data, technical and agile skills. Continuously improve data and technical skills through on-the-job learning and training opportunities. Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends. Seek feedback and actively work on improving data engineering and problem-solving skills

  • WHAT YOU’LL NEED

  • Passion for software and data engineering, adopting the mindset of a curious engineer

  • A technical lead, who takes ownership of deliveries within a Feature Team and is willing to help grow and guide engineers to form successful teams.

  • Experience with cloud technology for data solutions, particularly Google Cloud Platform

  • Experience DBT, SQL, Python, Java or SAS and other open source technologies used in analytics is essential.

  • Ability to understand complex business requirements and create business ready solutions

  • Strong interpersonal, communication and influencing skills, particularly the ability to convey business information arising from technical subject matter to non-technical people.

  • And any experience of these would be really useful 

  • Insights into industry solutions for data management, storage, and analytics

  • Experience of working within regulatory change would be advantageous, including Credit Risk, capital and impairment processes

  • Experience of line management.
