Role Summary

LSEG is strengthening its data capabilities, our Enterprise Data Strategy and Master Data Platform is a key part of this vision. We’re looking for a Director of Enterprise Data Engineering to lead this capability, guide a talented engineering team, and build reliable systems that help the organisation use trusted data at scale.

In this role, you’ll implement a modern data ecosystem leveraging Master Data Management principles and tools to  support Finance, Sales, Risk, AFC and more. You will create an environment where engineers feel supported and motivated. Your leadership will improve decision‑making, customer experiences, regulatory confidence, and innovation across LSEG.

What You’ll Be Doing

Lead & Grow the Engineering Team

  • Lead, scale and inspire a senior engineering organisation as it grows
  • Create a culture of ownership, inclusion, technical excellence, and learning.
  • Provide hands‑on technical leadership through architectural reviews, design reviews, and active participation in agile ceremonies.

Set Platform Vision & Strategy

  • Working with our Chief Data Officer, Head of Master Data Management and Heads of Engineering, define a clear technical data strategy for Enterprise Data, with roadmaps and measurable goals
  • Drive a modern product‑centric mindset within engineering for data: define and refine the CDM/MDM technical vision, integration strategy, KPIs and success metrics such as adoption, reliability and TCO.
  • Use customer and stakeholder insights to guide prioritisation, value slicing and long‑term investment decisions.
  • Ensure master data drives trusted decision making, embedded into critical business processes through reliable systems integrations and AI enablement.

Deliver Modern Robust Ecosystem

  • Design, build and run the Enterprise Master Data Management platform (Reltio) and  Customer Master Data programme engineering.
  • Implement robust and reliable Group Data integration strategies.
  • Define and uphold platform architecture, engineering standards, and best practices
  • Create reusable integration patterns across APIs, MCP, events/CDC and batch.
  • Embed strong data quality, lineage and stewardship practices.
  • Protect product quality, engineering standards and delivery velocity across mixed delivery models (FTE, contractors, partners).

Collaborate Across the Business and Partners

  • Work closely with Customer Data Operations, Sales, Marketing, Finance, Compliance/KYC and product and architecture teams.
  • Hold alignment sessions and workshops to keep teams moving in the same direction.
  • Communicate technical concepts clearly to all audiences.
  • Manage third‑party partners and suppliers through outcome‑based SLAs.

Drive Security, Governance & Reliability

  • Apply privacy, governance and security by design.
  • Set and maintain SLOs, resilience patterns, and disaster recovery plans.
  • Use incident management and error budgets to improve reliability

You’ll Bring (Key Skills & Experience)

Platform & Product Leadership

  • Proven experience delivering Enterprise Data, MDM or Reference Data as scalable products, with end‑to‑end accountability for backlog, roadmap and measurable business value.
  • Strong product mindset—comfortable defining platform vision, KPIs, value‑driven prioritisation frameworks and customer‑focused outcomes.

Technical Expertise

  • Deep integration experience across data management, MCP, APIs, event streaming/CDC and batch pipelines.
  • Expertise in data quality frameworks, reference data, stewardship workflows and integration pattern design.
  • Hands‑on engineering leadership in architecture, modern CI/CD, observability, and Infrastructure as Code, enabling continuous, safe, incremental delivery.

Domain & System Knowledge

  • Solid understanding of data governance, security, privacy, technical assurance and regulated data contexts.
  • Familiarity with CRM, KYC, Customer 360 and enterprise customer data models.
  • Experience integrating MDM (Reltio) with CRM (e.g., Salesforce) and ideally ERP or billing systems.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex engineering concepts into clear, actionable insights for technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Experience facilitating discovery workshops, roadmap alignment and stakeholder reviews.

Operational & Delivery Excellence

  • Experience defining SLOs and building resilient data platforms.
  • Ability to apply error budget principles to guide reliability vs. feature delivery decisions.
  • Vendor and partner management experience with outcome‑driven SLAs.
  • Lead incident management, root cause analysis and preventive engineering using error budgets to guide prioritisation and trade‑offs.
