Computershare has an exciting opportunity for a Financial Crime Data Analyst to join our Global Information Security function (GIS), as part of our Global Financial crime unit (FCU).

The FCU provides advice, guidance, and support to Computershare’s businesses in respect of preventing and identifying internal and external fraudulent activity. 

The FCU conduct investigations into potentially fraudulent activity and undertakes detective controls. In addition, the team provides the business with assurance over its fraud control environment, by conducting reviews and monitoring for indicators of fraudulent activity, supporting the business to achieve its strategic goals.
 


A role you will love 

The Financial Crime Data Analyst will play a critical role in detecting, investigating, analysing and preventing financial crime by leveraging data analytics, reporting, and insights. 

This role will report directly into the Head of Investigations FCU and will principally work on investigative projects. Working alongside the wider FCU function as required, and closely with IT, legal, and compliance teams to strengthen financial crime controls.

Working in conjunction with other stakeholders to analyse data from several sources as it relates to re-active and pro-active investigations. Providing data-driven insights to support investigations into fraud and money laundering.

Other key responsibilities include:

  • Collect, clean, and analyse large datasets to identify suspicious patterns and anomalies.
  •  Support fraud detection, and monitoring.
  • Collaborate with compliance officers to assess regulatory requirements and ensure adherence.
  • Assist in the development of financial crime prevention strategies.
  • Build and refine statistical models and machine learning tools to detect unusual activity, as well as presentation tools to demonstrate fraudulent activity.
  • Present findings to senior management, regulators, and internal stakeholders.



What will you bring to the role?

The successful candidate will have strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of financial crime typologies. Evident proficiency in SQL, Python, or other data analysis tools.

Experience of fraud/financial crime investigations in either a first- or second-line role in financial services, legal or law enforcement sectors is required to understand the environment in which this role operates. 

Knowledge of data visualisation platforms (Power BI, Tableau, or similar) is essential. Along with knowledge of AML, fraud detection, and financial crime typologies.

You will be an excellent problem-solver with critical-thinking skills, maintaining up to date knowledge of current trends in fraud prevention and identification, e.g. insights and legislation.

Other skills & experience include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Finance, Economics, or related field.
  • Experience working in an investment environment would be an advantage but is not essential.
  • Confidence to challenge existing ways of working to improve the overall approach.
  • Excellent written skills and strong verbal skills.
  • Negotiation and influencing skills are required to ensure that the business engage in investigations and discussions around remediating actions.

The role holder will need to communicate with colleagues around the world and may be required to attend meetings outside of the standard working hours. The ability to be flexible is essential.
