The Mission: Why We Exist
Genomics is a science-led transatlantic TechBio combining large-scale genetic and health data with proprietary analytics to accelerate drug discovery and advance predictive, preventative healthcare. We are united by a single vision to help people live longer, healthier lives, using the power of genomics.
Genomics aims to help people live longer, healthier lives in two ways: super-charging drug discovery and development for novel treatments with our AI-enabled advanced genetic analytics platform, and by helping people understand their personal risk of common chronic diseases through polygenic risk scores - giving doctors and health systems the chance to get the right people into the right prevention, screening and treatment programmes at the right time.
Role Purpose:
As a Junior Genomic Data Engineer, you will be at the heart of our Data Engineering team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, trusted, and timely data for scientists. Your role involves processing acquired genomic datasets, curating accompanying metadata and orchestrating our automated workflows. Resulting datasets help our world-class scientists generate insights for healthcare providers and individuals about disease risks and novel therapeutic targets.
Your responsibilities include the harmonisation, configuration and quality control of datasets linking genomic variation to human health and disease. Utilising a mix of third-party bioinformatic software, bespoke tools, and custom scripts, you will handle diverse genomic data types including GWAS, eQTL, pQTL, burden tests, and individual-level data. You'll collaborate closely with our scientists to meet their data needs, iterating on solutions for complex challenges.
You need to be responsible for the end-to-end processing of large-scale genetic and genomic datasets, utilising a combination of manual processing and existing automated protocols.
Ensuring the delivery of high-quality and timely data is crucial. You will need to configure workflow parameters and dataset metadata to meet the needs of our scientists.
You will play a pivotal role in developing quality control standards and artefacts. Assessing diagnostic data and providing requirements to improve it will be part of your responsibilities.
Working in agile teams with software developers and engineers, you will ensure the continuous improvement of workflows, quality control processes, and Data Engineeringβs services for our scientists.
Collaborating closely with our scientists, you will need to rapidly iterate on their data processing and reprocessing needs for high-value datasets.
You need to contribute to operational efficiency by optimising processes and tools, and by providing requirements for innovative solutions
With training in human genetics, you are seeking a new challenge that will allow you to further develop your expertise in genomic data engineering.
