About this role
As a Senior Data Scientist, you will lead by delivering high-impact machine learning applications that protect our platform and enhance customer experiences. Joining our Customer Services and Fraud team, you will care for our community by analyzing behaviors to influence how we operate globally. We value those who deliver through collaboration, working alongside diverse departments to turn complex data into automated, intelligent decision systems that drive real business value
These are some of the key components to the position:
Mentor a team of Data Scientists, providing technical guidance and code reviews to raise the team's engineering standards.
Own the end-to-end machine learning lifecycle, from initial problem definition and experimentation to production deployment and monitoring.
Design and deliver scalable forecasting and optimisation models that ensure operational stability and cost efficiency across the platform.
Apply causal inference and simulation techniques to evaluate policy changes and "what-if" scenarios for fraud and customer operations.
Translate complex model outputs into clear business insights, highlighting long-term impacts on key performance metrics.
Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to define requirements and build automated, intelligent decision systems.
Champion software engineering best practices, including Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) and maintainable code standards.
What will you bring to the team?
Proven expertise in deploying and maintaining machine learning models in production using strong engineering practices and monitoring.
Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop other Data Scientists, elevating both individual performance and collective technical standards.
Advanced proficiency in Python and SQL, with a dedicated focus on writing clean, scalable, and maintainable code.
Experience with cloud platforms (preferably Google Cloud Platform (GCP)) and modern ML tooling such as Vertex AI.
Solid understanding of forecasting, optimisation, or decision systems within complex operational or customer-facing environments.
Strong systems thinking and the ability to understand feedback loops and second-order effects in a global marketplace.
A pragmatic, impact-driven mindset focused on delivering simple, effective solutions that drive tangible business value.
