Work Location: Widnes (On site) with travel to depot as & when required

The Role: Data Engineer
We are seeking a skilled Data Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for optimizing software applications and managing data across Schenk UK. This includes both technical oversight and supporting stakeholders—from end users to application administrators and the central data team—to continuously improve the performance and value of our digital tools.

Key Responsibilities
Application & Data Management
- Set up and maintain master data
- Prepare and structure data for the data team and HQ IT engineers
- Support stable and efficient software operations
- Diagnose and resolve application or integration issues
User Support & Training
- Provide technical assistance to end users
- Train staff in effective application usage
- Document workflows, processes, and user instructions
Integration & Automation
- Integrate systems using APIs, databases, and middleware
- Plan and implement process automation (RPA rollout planned for 2026)
- Utilize SQL, REST, SOAP APIs, and integration platforms
Security & Compliance
- Manage access rights and user roles
- Ensure compliance with data protection standards (e.g., GDPR)
- Assist with updates and patches to maintain security and performance
Continuous Improvement & Innovation
- Identify opportunities for process and system improvements
- Test and deploy new software versions and features
- Collaborate with developers and vendors on custom solutions
What We’re Looking For
- 1–2 years of experience in a similar data or application engineering role
- Proficiency in SQL and relational database management
- Hands-on experience with system integration (REST, SOAP APIs)
- Basic knowledge of Python and JavaScript
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills and a proactive, customer-focused attitude
- Flexible, detail-oriented, and adaptable to change
