The roleĀ
WeāreĀ looking for a talentedĀ Machine Learning EngineerĀ to join Rightmoveās growing Data, Analytics & AI team and help scale our ability to deliver innovative AI-powered solutions.Ā YouāllĀ design, deploy, and optimiseĀ AI andĀ machine learning systems that are reliable, maintainable, and measurable.Ā
YouāllĀ design, deploy, and iterate on AI-powered features that are reliable, maintainable, andāmost importantlyāimpactful. You will bridge the gap between Data Science experiments and production-grade products, ensuring that our AI solutions solve real-world problems for home hunters and partners.Ā
A typical week as a Machine Learning Engineer might involveĀ
- Working with data scientists to take models fromĀ initialĀ development to production-grade features with scalability and user-experience in mind.Ā
- Building "scrappy" internal tools or prototypes toĀ validateĀ AI concepts before scaling them into full production pipelinesĀ
- Designing andĀ maintainingĀ the ML pipelines (training, deployment, monitoring) that keep our product-facing models running smoothly.Ā
- Translating model performance into business metrics (e.g., accuracy vs cost/latency trade-offs)Ā
- Collaborating with product, design, and engineering teams to deliverĀ AI andĀ ML features that directlyĀ impactĀ customer experienceĀ
- Automating feature engineering and dataĀ pipelineĀ processes, ensuring reproducibility and auditabilityĀ
- Implementing monitoring and observability to detect drift, bias, and performance degradation, and setting up rollback/recovery processesĀ
- UsingĀ MLOpsĀ tools (e.g.,Ā Vertex Pipelines/Kubeflow, W&B) for experiment tracking, model registry, and automated deploymentĀ
- Leveraging Docker/Kubernetes and workflow orchestration tools (Airflow, Prefect,Ā Dagster)Ā
WeāreĀ looking for someone whoĀ
- Has experienceĀ shippingĀ andĀ maintainingĀ AIĀ or MLĀ systems in production,Ā ideallyĀ includingĀ large scaleĀ batch inference pipelines and online inference microservices, withĀ retraining and monitoringĀ
- Understands the full ML lifecycle and can design for long-term resilience without losing sight of the immediate product goal.Ā
- Has strong programming skills (Python, SQL) and experience with ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, Scikit-learn)Ā
- Experienced with cloud platforms (ideally GCP:Ā BigQuery, Vertex AI, Dataflow)Ā
- Is comfortable with CI/CD, Git, and containerisation/orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)Ā
- HasĀ strong communicationĀ skills to explain trade-offs and influence both technical and non-technical colleaguesĀ
- Is proactive, detail-oriented, and motivated to learn emerging ML engineering toolsĀ
We would love someone to have any of the followingĀ
- Bachelorās, Masterās, or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related STEM subjectĀ
- 3+ yearsĀ of experience as an ML Engineer, Data Engineer, or similarĀ
- Hands-on with model monitoring, observability, and retraining pipelinesĀ
- Exposure to feature stores, registries, and experimentation frameworksĀ
- Familiarity with business-driven metrics and experience balancing ML performance with commercial goalsĀ
- Experience with LLMĀ and Agentic AI frameworksĀ (e.g.Ā ADK,Ā LangChain,Ā AutoGen)Ā Ā
