Overview

We are expanding our Data & AI team and are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join the team to lead work at the forefront of sport. You’ll be responsible for improving our data and pipelines while also supporting our clients with their own data engineering and infrastructure needs. As part of cross-functional teams you’ll be working with the leading strategy consultants in the industry to help decision making across sporting performance, commercial and operations.

As part of a fast-growing area, you will have the opportunity to shape how we build and scale our global data infrastructure from the ground up.

Responsibilities:

  • Data Pipelines: Build and manage data workflows using Python, SQL, and cloud storage
  • APIs & Data Feeds: Deploy simple APIs to serve models or data to internal and client teams
  • App Deployment: Support lightweight web app deployment (e.g., Streamlit) for internal or client use
  • Database Management: Maintain schemas, optimize performance, and manage access controls
  • Cloud Infrastructure: Manage lightweight cloud environments and infrastructure.
  • DevOps Support: Handle deployment setups, secrets management, and basic orchestration
  • Code Quality: Promote clean, testable, and well-documented code.
  • Team Collaboration: Work with data scientists and analysts to productionize and standardize workflows
  • Mentorship: Guide junior team members and help grow data engineering capabilities

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of experience in data engineering or similar roles
  • Passion for sport and the application of data within it
  • Strong Python and SQL skills
  • Proficiency with at least one major cloud platform (Azure or AWS preferred)
  • Experience with orchestration tools and CI/CD tools - experience with Github Actions is a plus
  • Familiarity with containerisation (e.g. Docker) and basic API/model deployment
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced consultancy or agency environment
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
