As a Senior BI Analyst, this is what you’ll be doing:

The Senior BI Analyst role for QS will analyse large volumes of complex data to produce insights that can improve business performance. They will help identify stakeholder requirements and develop insightful dashboards and reports to support business decisions and provide customer insights. Working collaboratively with global stakeholders, the Senior BI Analyst will identify and adopt best practices to solve complex problems in a data- driven manner and use strong analytical skills and business acumen to support leadership in influencing critical business decisions. The scope of this role will be diverse, from ad-hoc pieces of analysis, to ensuring timely regular reporting, enhancing existing reporting pipelines, and working on long-term strategic projects to enhance BI & Analytics. This role will be required to collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand their data requirements and analyse outcome, as necessary.

         Role responsibilities:

  • Data analysis, using statistical techniques, identify, analyse, interpret trends, patterns in new and existing datasets to present insights.
  • Guide and mentor the junior data analysts in the team.
  • Be responsible defining standardised metrics, methodologies, and models to ensure consistency and accuracy across all analytical and reporting activities.
  • Make recommendations about the methods and processes in which QS obtains and analyses data to improve accuracy and the efficiency of data processes.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify, prioritise and implement new data sources and analytical needs of the business.
  • Compile reports and provide insights to internal stakeholders to measure and improve business performance.
  • Specification and documentation of new reporting requirements.
  • Benchmarking and trend analysis against performance targets.
  • Write and execute SQL queries to extract and manipulate data for the purpose of analysis and reporting.
  • Testing and documentation of data models.
  • Check and verify data and analyses to ensure accurate reporting.
  • Identify and resolve the root cause of data quality issues and develop solutions to improve data quality.
  • Support cross-functional teams on day-to-day execution and support ad-hoc requests.
  • Perform data operations activities such as matching, formatting and mapping data to ensure a global common data set.
  • Promote 'Self-serve' analytics by mentoring internal stakeholders in the interpretation and use of analytical reports and models.
  • Assist the team with any other duties as required.

    Key skills and experience:

  • BS in Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Information Management or Statistics, or a closely related field or equivalent demonstrable experience.
  • Experience working in Data/BI Analyst or Data Science role.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organise, analyse, and disseminate
  • significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Experience in formatting, analysing and presenting data in Tableau, Power Bl or other BI reporting applications.
  • Experience in mentoring a team of analysts.
  • Ability to write complex queries in SQL and model data from data processes.
  • Experience in maintaining or conceptualising analytical models using R or Python.
  • Technical expertise regarding data models, data mining and segmentation techniques.
  • Experience of working within a RDMS and Data Warehouse environment.
  • Highly developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills with an ability to conceptualise and think creatively.
  • Experience of working in a small, high impact teams required to meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communications skills -- both written and verbal, and the ability elicit reporting an and analytical requirements and to present difficult concepts into understandable terms to all levels of the organisation.
  • Able to work autonomously and within a team including managing own workload.
  • Proactive attitude with the ability to use initiative to identify potential issues and offer creative solutions.
  • Knowledge of Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills with and aptitude to work under Pressure.
  • Willingness to offer and discuss opinions whilst considering those of others in the team and the wider business.
